After she wrote The McCurdys, Jennette McCurdy fell in love with the process and wrote/directed three other short movies in a year. Her passion for acting

Jennette McCurdy began her acting career since she was 8 years old. As a child, Jennette watched a lot of Star Wars movies, but it wasn't until she saw Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, that she wanted to be in the movies. She also developed a crush for Jake Lloyd. Afterwards, she asked her mother in the following years to help her become an actress. She looked into Back Stage West magazine and consulted Coast to Coast Talent Group for an agent since none of her family members knew anyone in the business. Since she had no prior acting, she presented monologues during auditions (which she admitted was uncomfortable).

Jennette's first role on television was on MADtv playing as Cassidy Gifford. She made guest appearances in television dramas. It wasn't until she booked a guest star role on Zoey 101 where she met producer, Dan Schneider. Dan remembered Jennette's impressive acting ability and contacted her to star in his new television show, iCarly. She auditioned and got the role-playing as Sam Puckett in September of 2007.

Her brief music career

During a hiatus in the fourth season of iCarly, Jennette McCurdy was persuaded to try to venture into the country music world. Capitol Records Nashville heard her southern twang in her cover songs on Youtube and offered a contract around her 18th birthday. She would later tour for her Generation Love mall tour across the country playing free mall concerts. For a $10 donation to St. Jude, fans would have a quick meet and greet with a signed photo. Jennette later revealed that the music career was not for her. She did not enjoy the constant traveling and being separated from family made it even more difficult.
